How I Overcome Writer's Block

How I Overcome Writer's Block

Hello, everyone!๐Ÿ™‚

Arguably, the worst part of writing books is the dreaded writer's block.๐Ÿ˜ It comes like a thief in the night, stealing all creative ideas and leaving authors frowning at their computers, fingers hovering over the keys. On other blogs, I've seen various solutions to this classic author-issue; however, I have my own method of overcoming this obstacle.

    • Step 1: Take a quick break
    • Step 2: Pray
    • Step 3: Write

Yep, just three simple steps! Let me expand on them:

Step 1: Take a quick break

When I find myself becoming increasingly frustrated over a blank page and a lack of "creative juices," I clear my mind with a short walk around my neighborhood. Trust me: fresh air, a touch of sunshine, and some light exercise can do wonders.

    Step 2: Pray

Something that is absolutely essential for me is praying. Philippians 4:6-7 says that believers should talk to God about everything and tell Him what we need because He loves to hear from us!โค๏ธ I simply ask God to bless my writing and to help me learn from this tough situation. Above all else, this gives me peace and reminds me that this isn't the end of the world, though it may feel that way!๐Ÿ˜‰

    Step 3: Write

This step may have caught you off guard. "Um, Evelyn?" you ask. "I'm reading this post because I can't write!"๐Ÿคจ Yes, it may seem silly, but I truly believe writing is the BEST way to get rid of writer's block. It doesn't have to be anything fancy and you can even erase it all afterward... just write something. This will get your ideas flowing and, eventually, pull you free so you can continue your creative projects!

Granted, this technique is not magic, and sometimes you may be stuck with writer's block for weeks or months... but don't give up! I don't know a single author who hasn't gone through this very issue. In fact, I'm struggling right now with planning my next fantasy book!

Well, that's all for now. I hope this post was helpful and that you'll be able to overcome writer's block... and emerge stronger than before!
